Anomaly Analytics and Structural Assessment in Process Industries
Detecting anomalous behavior can be of critical importance in an industrial application context: While modern production sites feature sophisticated alarm management systems, they mostly react to single events. In the context of process industries and heterogeneous data sources, we model sequential alarm data for anomaly detection and analysis, based on first-order Markov chain models. We outli...
متن کاملAnalysis of domino effect in pipelines.
Parallel pipelines are frequently installed over long distances, due to the difficulty in creating or maintaining the required corridor. This implies that a release in one pipeline can seriously affect another one. The main risks associated with this domino effect are erosion by fluid-sand jets and the thermal action of jet fires. In this paper a survey has been performed on the accidents that ...
متن کاملAnalysis of Hazard Identification Methods in Process Industries Using Analytic Network Process Technique (ANP)
Background and aims: Hazard identification is a critical factor to ensure safe design and operation of systems in the process industries. Process industries are one of the most complex systems, with a variety of equipment, control systems, and executive procedures. In these industries, the use of hazardous materials as raw materials or products is quite common. Interactions between technical co...

A study of 261 accidents involving domino effect has been carried out. The main features have been analyzed: origin, causes, consequences and most frequent sequences. The analysis has shown that the most frequent causes are external events (31%) and mechanical failure (30%). The storage areas (37%) and process plants (27%) are by far the most common places where domino accidents have occurred. ...
